Each day is a real quilt block, pinned to the worktable as foundation paper — every seam of the geometry is printed on it, but the paper doesn't say which fabric dyes which patch. That's your puzzle. A few patches come pre-stitched (look for the brass pin) to get the chain started.
Tap a bolt of fabric to load your brush, then tap a patch. Triangles, curves and hourglasses dye a piece at a time — on an hourglass the opposite triangles dye together. The band on each bolt counts how many pieces of that fabric are still undyed: when it hits zero, that fabric is used up — a deduction in itself. On a small board a tap dyes the patch's next piece, so you never have to aim at half a triangle.
A wrong dye rips the seam: the patch corrects itself, and the rip goes on your count. Finish without one and the block is Flawless.
Every finished patch wears a little muslin tag: one stitch per seam, sewn in the fabric on the other side of that seam. Edges of the block get no stitch, and a seam where a bar shows two fabrics gets a stitch for each.
Here the teal patch touches madder above and linen on two sides — so its tag reads one madder stitch, two linen. Each fabric has its own stitch as well as its own colour, and both are printed on its bolt. The tag never says which seam is which, only how many of each fabric touch. On the daily, tap any finished patch to light up exactly the pieces its tag counts.
Denser blocks hang a tally rail beside the rows (sometimes the columns too): how many patches of each fabric that band holds. Crossing the rail against the tags is where the good deductions live. The counts tick down as you dye — or stay put in Tally-off hard mode.
